Currently in NYC — September 6 2023: Hot and humid

Plus, meet the newest Currently newsletter writers!

The weather, currently.

Partly sunny, hot, and humid

I think the months are confused. Somebody tell September to stop July-ing. Heat and humidity are in full control again on Wednesday. We remain in the 90s with offensive humidity levels that make it feel like the mid to upper 90s. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8pm. Take plenty of breaks if working or exercising outside and stay hydrated. We don’t cool off much at night with a muggy low of 77°F. Major props to the incredible tennis players who can play multi-hour matches in this weather. Be safe and try to stay cool!

One of my favorite organizations, Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, serves as a hub of mutual aid efforts focused on climate action in emergencies — like Hurricane season. Find mutual aid network near you and join, or donate to support networks in Florida:
