The weather, currently.

Mostly sunny and hot with a chance of late day storms

Some good old-fashioned weather whiplash is heading our way. Friday will feel like a typical summer day with 90°F temperatures, a smattering of humidity, and a couple thunderstorms. If any storms develop, it would likely be in the afternoon and early evening and they could contain small hail. We’ll have plenty of sunshine throughout the day though. Then, whoosh! A back door cold front funnels in temperatures that are 25 degrees cooler for Saturday! We barely hit 65°F with showers and a chilly northeast breeze. Enjoy the ride!

What you need to know, currently.

A Tropical Depression has formed in the central Gulf of Mexico, and is expected to continue bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to most of Florida over the coming few days.

Even though hurricane season just started on Thursday, this depression is the second cyclone of the season. A subtropical storm formed in the Atlantic Ocean in mid-January, but was only recognized months later after forecasters reexamined old weather maps. If this week’s cyclone, TD2, continues to strengthen, it would be given the name ‘Arlene’.
