Currently in NYC — July 2, 2024: Another winner with sunshine and low humidity

The weather, currently. 

Our fantastic stretch of weather continues on Tuesday. High pressure is firmly in control and that keeps us in a dry and tranquil pattern. We gain a couple degrees for a seasonable high of 84°F but it still feels amazing out there with comfortable dew points!

We’ll have plenty of sunshine with a calmer wind. It’s another 10 out of 10 day! I could get used to these. Our record high for the day happened back in 1966 when we reached 100°F. Yeah, I’m happy with the 84°F. I hope you have an amazing day!

What you can do, currently.

A Media Matters analysis found that last year — the hottest calendar year on record — network coverage of climate actually declined in the US. What’s worse, just 12% of reports about climate change mentioned fossil fuels as the driving cause. The media still reported on extreme weather, but stopped short of making the climate connection.

Independent climate journalism like Currently is needed more than ever. And this year, with all of these weather warnings already underway, we’ll unfortunately have plenty of opportunities to do better.
